All your questions about Fortnite on GeForce NOW answered

The latest Fortnite expansion is onto the GeForce NOW game streaming platform and, as usual with moves like this, it has been accompanied by a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on the Epic Games website.

If you are a GeForce NOW subscriber you can jump into Fortnite right now. This is true for all three tiers of membership: Free, Priority and RTX 3080.

Once signed up, accessing Fortnite can be done just like every other game on the service with access through an app or a browser.

All of that is relatively standard across games. It gets more Fortnite-specific when it comes to progression. All progression from other platforms will cross over to GeForce NOW if your accounts are linked.

“You just need to make sure your NVIDIA account is linked to the same Epic account you use on other platforms. To link your Epic account to your NVIDIA account, first log into your NVIDIA account on PC, Mac, or web, then click on the “accounts connected” tile in the MY LIBRARY row or go to SETTINGS > CONNECTIONS > Epic Games > CONNECT,” Epic Games writes.

“Once your accounts are linked, you’ll automatically log into Fortnite with your Epic account when launching Fortnite on GeForce NOW. Your progress will also transfer to other platforms you use your Epic account on.”

Another consideration here is what Fortnite modes you want to play. For phones and tablets the co-op Save the World mode is not available, while the other hardware options have access to it. As Save the World is so overlooked compared to the battle royale mode, we doubt this will be an issue for most.

What may be an issue for some is controller support where, again, it has more to do with the service than it does with Fortnite. Full hardware support can be found on the Nvidia site here, but Epic Games writes the following:

“All devices support the Sony DualShock 4 (PS4) controller, Sony DualSense (PS5) controller, and Microsoft Xbox Wireless controllers. For game streaming on mobile devices specifically, players can use either a controller or touch controls.”
