Disney+ reportedly working on Daredevil series, but no word on Netflix cast joining

With Disney+ launching in South Africa this week, many subscribers are hankering to find out what else is coming to the streaming platform. While one of the current properties available is Daredevil, which formerly featured on Netflix, now Disney+ is said to be working on a new series for its own service.

This according to a report from Variety, which says that co-writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord (The Brave, Covert Affairs) are joining the platform in a writing and producing capacity to work on a series featuring blind lawyer Matt Murdock.

No formal announcement has been made yet, so Disney may be looking to get all the moving parts bedded down before it wishes to make things official.

Perhaps the most important element is what role actor Charlie Cox will play in the upcoming Daredevil series. Cox had a small cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home late last year, which means he is official part of the MCU, not to mention the actor’s desire to don the iconic red suit again, so it would seem like a natural fit.

That said the Netflix adaptation, which was generally well received thanks to its superb action and intense one-take fight scenes, has three seasons of content under its belt with several beats already laid out.

Whether Disney wants to continue where season three ended, or completely reboot the character remains to be seen. With Daredevil opening up the avenue for future New York-based Marvel characters, it will be interesting to see what direction this project takes.

All we know is Charlie Cox needs to play Murdock.
