Remember, there is Stage 2 loadshedding every evening this week

Following an unwelcome encounter with Stage 2,3 and 4 loadshedding at the weekend, South Africans will have to wrap up warmly for the week ahead.

Late on Sunday evening Eskom announced that, due to a continued shortage of capacity, Stage 2 loadshedding would need to be implemented all week during the evening peak. This boils down to power cuts every night this week from 17:00 to 22:00.

However, while this is the plan, and the plan is simple, it could change.

“While there may be instance where loadshedding might need to be implemented outside of these hours, as far as possible Eskom will endeavour to limit the implementation of loadshedding to the evening peak in order to limit the impact of the capacity shortages on the public,” Eskom wrote.

South Africans can assist Eskom by lowering their energy consumption during the morning and evening peaks which take place between 05:00 and 09:00 in the morning and 16:00 to 22:00.

Unfortunately, the current cold front in many parts of the country as well as rain are likely only going to exacerbate Eskom’s woes.

As such, we recommend you download the EskomSePush app for Android and iOS if you haven’t already. We also highly recommend checking what your loadshedding schedule looks like beyond the hours of 17:00 to 22:00.

We also recommend following Eskom on Twitter as the utility has a habit of posting loadshedding announcements on Twitter but not Facebook.

Charge your electronics, download some content to watch and take an extra blanket out of the cupboard, it’s looking to be a cold week ahead.
