Temtem 1.0 is coming complete with Collector’s Edition

Back in 2020 there was a lot of discussion around Temtem, an Early Access monster collecting and battling game with MMO elements that sought to rival Pokémon. Now, in late 2022, it will release in earnest.

On 6th September 2022 Temtem 1.0 will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.

“Catch new Temtem on Omninesia’s floating islands, battle other tamers on the sandy beaches of Deniz, or trade with your friends in Tucma’s ash-covered fields. Thwart Clan Belsoto’s plot to rule over the Archipelago, beat all eight Dojo Leaders, and become the ultimate Temtem tamer in this massively multiplayer creature collection adventure,” reads the official description about the game.

Unfortunately this 1.0 news does not come with details about what this release entails or what Early Access players can expect to see when they boot up the launch version.

Developer Crema remarks that it will be “talking about the 1.0 and everything it entails really soon” so we will have to wait.

The Early Access section on Steam states that the full release is planned to have more than 161 Temtem (the name of the creatures in this game), six main unique islands, one smaller island for minigames, an auction/trading house, player housing and much more.

We’ll need to wait and see how much of that is true for the 1.0.

We have to give a bit of a warning about the official Temtem website hosted by Humble, which is this game’s publisher. It can be accessed here but do so at your own risk as this site will max out your internet usage as well as your CPU and GPU. Aside from poor optimisation it seems to do this because it loads many videos and animations right as you access the page.

For those who want to spend a lot of money there will be a physical Collector’s Edition for Temtem, which isn’t something we usually see from indie games.

The Collector’s Edition costs $99.99 (~R1 570) and is up for pre-order right now.

The big ticket item in the box is the Statue Diorama of the three starting Temtem that players get to choose from at the beginning of the game named Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic.

This diorama is made of ABS and PVC and is apparently 15.2 centimetres tall.

The full content of the Collector’s Edition is as follows:

  • Six-inch Temtem Starter Statue Diorama featuring Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic
  • Three TemCard Replicas featuring Gharunder, Kinu and Shuine
  • Set of three Embroidered Iron-On Patches featuring Fomu, Oree, and Saipat
  • Set of three Soft Enamel Pins featuring Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic

For those who haven’t been following the game, a “TemCard” is the equivalent of a Poké Ball and it’s where the Temtem are stored when they’re not in battle.
