Fall Guys outlines changes for F2P version

Today is the day that Fall Guys – the popular battle royale / game show title – makes the move to Free to Play (F2P) and some changes are here to go along with the loss of the price tag.

Funding this move to F2P is a paid Season Pass with a hundred levels to grind through.

“The Free for All Season Pass is also jam-packed with exciting goodies! Your Blunderdome efforts will propel you through 100 levels of Costume, Emote and Celebration unlocks – plus more! And if you max out your Season Pass for Season Free for All, you can unlock next season’s Season Pass too…” the announcement reads.

Thankfully for those who prefer to keep the credit cards in your wallet, there will still be content for those who want to truly play for free.

“For anyone who doesn’t grab the Season Pass: worry not! There will continue to be a free progression path available for you to get fun unlockables as well!,” the announcement continues.

The Season Pass even has its own dedicated trailer with crossover cosmetics from Godzilla, Assassin’s Creed and Among Us all featured.

Strangely there’s still no word about the Halo crossover revealed recently. We’ve been waiting for more details for a while and thought this F2P launch would be the springboard for it, but apparently now.

Another big feature of note is crossplay for just about everything that can play a game: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S owners can all play together with an Epic Games Account tracking your progress.

As highlighted in the recent trailer, there are several modes that can be played right now.

For those who want even more details about the F2P change, patch notes are available here.

We read the notes and can report on some highlights: a secret gamemode will be released later this season, there’s more challenges to complete, the store has a new layout, ledges are grabbed automatically (Auto Grab), various fixes to performance and more small under the hood changes.

And, finally, Fall Guys is no longer available to buy on Steam. This is because Fall Guys owner Epic games prefers that you buy it from the Epic Games Store instead. Steam owners can still launch and play the game, and will receive updates, but no new players can buy the game there.
