Is the Asus ROG Phone 6 coming to SA after 5th July reveal?

This week Asus announced that it will be revealing its latest mobile gaming device, the ROG Phone 6, will launch on 5th July.

While we normally would not be too concerned with such an announcement given ROG phones are not officially available in South Africa, the fact that an invite was shared with local media too, gives us new cause for optimism.

To be clear, at the time of writing Asus South Africa has made no mention on whether the device will be landing on our shores, but a company will rarely alert local media to a global announcement if the device is not intended to be available here too.

As such, we are hoping that more information will be disclosed in the coming weeks.

“ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the ROG Phone 6: For Those Who Dare virtual event, which will unveil the latest generation ROG Phone 6 series, and a new lineup of gaming accessories and gaming headphones,” noted Asus South Africa in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“At the event, ROG will announce the much-anticipated ROG Phone 6, featuring the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G Platform and a Samsung AMOLED display. When combined with exclusive ROG tuning technology, the ROG Phone 6 achieves an impressive 165Hz refresh rate, introducing a new era for gaming smartphone performance, and giving gamers the competitive edge,” it added.

With the number of dedicated gaming phones in SA rather limited, the addition of this upcoming device to the mix could be quite interesting.
