Loadshedding is back until Thursday says Eskom

Following a warning of short notice loadshedding earlier on Monday, Eskom has now announced that it will have to implement power cuts this week.

Thankfully, loadshedding is restricted to the hours between 17:00 and 22:00 in the evening. Loadshedding will be at a Stage 2 frequency as of time of writing.

“Eskom will continue to closely monitor the system, adjust and communicate any changes as may be necessary. We appeal to all South Africans to help limit the impact of shortages by continuing to reduce the usage of electricity and to switch off all non-essential items,” the utility said in a power alert on Monday.

As of time of writing, capacity is restricted due to 5 232MW being unavailable thanks to planned maintenance while 14 202MW is unavailable due to breakdowns.

“Eskom cautions the public that as the shortage of generation capacity persists, the system will continue to be constrained with an elevated risk of loadshedding over the coming weeks,” Eskom added.

As always, we recommend making use of the EskomSePush app for Android and Apple iOS devices to plan your week ahead accordingly.
