TECNO Mobile has announced a new entry-level Android phone available locally in the form of the POP 5 LTE.

This new offering is available at retailers like Jet, Edgars, Mr Price and Foschini Group Stores, with it recommended to retail for R2 299.

The big selling point here is a massive 5 000mAh battery, which should yield a full day’s of use and then some. TECNO also highlights the fact that a dual SIM orientation is present for the POP 5 LTE, and as the name suggests, it supports LTE connectivity.

Other notable elements of the device include a 6.52″ notched display, an 8MP dual camera on the rear, 5MP front facing camera, a fingerprint sensor on the back and Android 11 Go as the native operating system.

In South Africa, the device is being made available in two colours – Turquoise Cyan and Ice Blue. Added to this is 2GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable via the microSD slot.

For R2 299 (RRP) all the boxes appear to be ticked, so this device should appeal to those looking for an affordable Android phone.
