Voting opens on the World of Warships Camouflage Contest

World of Warships has opened up the public voting phase of its Camouflage Contest, which has tasked the community with creating unique skins which will then appear in the game.

Between now and 3rd July voters can head to this link and leave their vote for one of the ten finalists which you can see in the gallery at the bottom of this page.

Looking over the finalists and there’s a lot to like with our favourite being the white and black version from user KAPITAN_SHUBIN which says “2002 Steam” on the side. Something about the linework and simple colours does it for us.

Unfortunately for these finalists the prizes don’t contain any real money, with the breakdown provided by the original announcement.

  • “First place: Premium Ship IX container
  • Second place: Premium Ship VIII container + + three Distant Voyages containers
  • Third place: Premium Ship VII container + three Distant Voyages containers
  • Fourth place: Premium Ship VII container + three Distant Voyages containers
  • Fifth to tenth place: Premium Ship VII container
  • All entrants: Distant Voyages container.”

We can’t help but compare this to a similar contest recently held for PUBG. The event for PUBG was much the same as the community was tasked to make an in-game cosmetic (this time a pair of shoes) with the winner then chosen by public vote.

The difference is that, for this contest, the winner walked away with a sizeable cash prize.

We’re sure that the participants and winners are themselves World of Warships players and will welcome some digital prizes, but we can’t help but feel like actually being paid real money for their labour would have been better.
