Xbox PC app gets game performance indicator

Microsoft is making it just a bit easier to determine how well a game might perform on your PC before you even install the game.

The Game Performance Fit Indicator has been in testing in the Xbox App for PC for some time now but this week Microsoft has seemingly opted for a wider release. This feature gives users an indication of how a game would perform on their rig based on the performance on other PCs with similar specs.

Unfortunately, not all games will have the Game Performance Fit Indicator present as Microsoft simply may not have enough data on the game. That said, the firm says that users should check back at a later stage if they don’t see the feature.

The Redmond software giant also announced improvements to search in the Xbox App for PC.

“We recently made improvements on navigating the app and made it easier to find more games to play. All your navigation is now on the sidebar and game installations are easily trackable with the new queue (which shows up in the bottom left of your app with a notification when your game finishes installing) so you can jump right into your next game,” writes senior product manager lead for Xbox Experiences, Tila Nguyen, in a blog post.

The search functionality of the app has also been honed to provide more accurate results from EA Play and Ubisoft Connect as well. The Home page of the app now also includes categories such as “Games to play together” and “Side scrollers” to make it a bit easier to find your next game.

Remember, if you’ve never used PC Game Pass, you can get your first three months for R15.90. More details here.
