Huawei brings new MateBook X Pro and MateBook D 16 to our shores

There are now two new notebooks available from Huawei locally, with the MateBook X Pro (2022) and MateBook D 16 revealed for local audiences at an Xperience event this week.

The former is designed for those wanting a premium Windows-powered ultrabook, while the latter is aimed at the business/enterprise space and sporting better specifications across the board compared to some of the other MateBook D models launched locally to date.

“The use of light and strong magnesium alloys in the full-CNC unibody design means that the laptop weighs only 1.26 kg making it highly portable and durable. The 14.2-inch Real Colour FullView Display obtained the world’s first Eye Comfort 3.0 certification by TÜV Rheinland and universal colour consistency technology ensures that the same pristine colours will be displayed,” notes Huawei of the MateBook X Pro (2022) in a press release sent to Hypertext.

This new model also comes in a new colour option called Ink Blue, along with being specced with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P processor. Added to this is a touch display that supports smartphone-style gestures and a handful of gestures that don’t require contact in order to control the notebook.

Looking at the MateBook D 16, it serves up a 16″ (1920×1200) display and a 16:10 aspect ratio that Huawei terms as the golden ratio for viewing content.

“With a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and a convenient 16:10 aspect ratio, it is designed with comfort and productivity in mind: it allows you to be more productive when working with web pages, charts, data and written documents,” adds Huawei.

“HUAWEI MateBook D 16 comes with the 12th Gen Intel Core H- Series Processor and can be configured up to i7-12700H. It offers a TDP of up to 40W, dual-channel RAM and a high-speed solid-state drive. You can use the Standard Mode for light tasks and switch to the Performance Mode when you want the HUAWEI MateBook D 16 to have that extra boost,” it continues.

As for pricing and availability, both notebooks are already available to purchase on Huawei’s local online store, with the MateBook X Pro starting at R35 999 and the MateBook D 16 from R25 999.
