Earlier today Samsung officially unveiled its latest foldable phones with the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4.
As the name would suggest, both devices are the fourth iteration in the company’s lineup of foldable phones and while these new offerings do not look radically different to their predecessors, Samsung has refined several elements across the board on each.
Examples of this include a re-engineered hinge on the Fold4, as well as more durable foldable displays on both options. A larger battery is present on the Flip4 too, with its hinge also being improved. Camera performance has also been addressed, with better arrays fitted on both devices, but it is the Galaxy Z Fold4 that is sporting the better specifications.
It is not only the hardware that has been improved, with Samsung also bringing more features to the mix on each device. The larger Fold4 lends itself to multitasking, making use of an S Pen stylus once again and the UI adding a taskbar and better integration between popular apps, along with being optimised for the Microsoft Office mobile suite.
As for the Flip4, it is getting a new shooting mode that leans into the fact that the phone can be posed in a few different angles called FlexCam. The cover screen has also been enlarged and tuned to offer better interactions and gestures for notifications.

As for local pricing and availability, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip 4 are set to go up for pre-order in South Africa from this evening until 31st August.
Thereafter both devices will go on regular sale from 1st September onwards.
Recommended pricing sees the Fold4 start at R37 999 and the Flip4 start at R21 999. At the time of writing, it is unclear what the best specced RAM/storage options will fetch, but the local Samsung site should go live with more details in the coming hours.
