Stage 2 loadshedding kicks in at 16:00, possible power cuts until Thursday

We had a good run South Africa, but today, loadshedding pokes it head out once again.

As always, power utility Eskom has pointed to a shortage of generation capacity necessitating the need for Stage 2 loadshedding between 16:00 and 00:00 tonight.

Worryingly, there is also a high probability that loadshedding will need to be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday as well.

“The breakdowns of a single generation unit at Arnot Power Station and three at Tutuka Power Station during the last 24 hours, as well as delays in returning units to service at Arnot, Kusile and Tutuka power stations have put a severe strain on the power generation systems,” Eskom said in a power alert.

As much as 14 182MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns while 4 550MW of capacity is unavailable due to scheduled maintenance.

As always, with loadshedding about, we advise downloading the EskomSePush mobile app on iOS, Android and HMS devices in order to stay up to date on what is happening in the country and your suburb when it comes to power supply.
