Gremlins’ Gizmo joins the MultiVersus roster

MultiVersus – the attempt by Warner Bros. to make its own crossover platform fighter in the image of Super Smash Bros. – has received its latest playable character in the form of Gizmo from Gremlins.

Gizmo is a support character with special moves “Song of the Mogwai” and “Gizmo-A-Go-Go”, who you can see in action thanks to a gameplay trailer at the bottom of this story. Other support characters in the game include Reindog (a new character for the game), Steven Universe from the titular show and Scooby-Doo’s Velma.

“When Gizmo heard that his malevolent off-spring Stripe had been pulled into the battle for the Multiverse, he followed immediately to stop him. Gizmo has always been a hero: Whether it was helping save Kingston Falls, averting the disaster at the Clamp Center, or any of the other adventures from his (surprisingly long) life, he has always been an unlikely protector of the innocent. With his box of tricks and mystical singing, he’s sure to throw a wrench in the works,” reads the description of the character on the MultiVersus website.

That same website lists a bow as Gizmo’s weapon of choice with this new addition part of patch 1.02 that changes several elements of the game with a notable rework of hitboxes.

Looking to the future and Stripe will also be added to the game. Stripe has been used extensively in the marketing for season one of MultiVersus and it’s featured in the key art for this right next to Black Adam who will also be added in the future. We just saw Black Adam in another form today as a new trailer for the upcoming movie was released.

For those wondering, yes, that is Morty from Rick and Morty holding Gizmo in our header image above. You can view an uncropped version here.

MultiVersus is a free to play title available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
