LG UltraGear monitors really live up to the name

It takes confidence in a product to bestow upon it a name using the superlative “ultra”, and LG has a good reason to be confident with its UltraGear monitors.

LG, long a pioneer and beloved name in the display space, has made available the UltraGear family of monitors which gamers, movie buffs, professionals and more can all now access.

The first feature which makes an UltraGear monitor is raw speed. A super high 144Hz refresh rate is the standard here, something that needs to be experienced first-hand to truly appreciate the supreme smoothness on offer.

For the longest time, 144Hz was an extremely expensive feature on a select few monitors that were reserved for esports athletes who could stomach the high price when a sponsor is paying for the hardware. Thankfully it has become more mainstream thanks to the efforts of manufacturers like LG, for everyone to enjoy.

144Hz isn’t just for esports titles anymore, however, as even single-player games can benefit from this boost. Enthusiasts of simulators will similarly, deeply appreciate this upgrade making planes, trains and automobiles all the more convincing on the screen.

And for those who like to turn things up just one more notch, be on the lookout for the higher tier 32GN600 UltraGear that can be pushed to 165Hz over DisplayPort.

Continuing this penchant for speed is a 1ms response rate, another esport must-have that everyone else has learned to love and put on their wishlist of features when shopping for displays.

Speed is welcome but any decent screen needs to look good while going fast too, and again LG delivers. UltraGear features HDR10 with 99 percent typical coverage of sRGB.

HDR ensures that what you see on the screen is as close as possible to what game developers, directors and animators intended you to see. Once again we have to encourage everyone to visit your local store, showroom, convention or even friend’s house to try HDR in person.

If you’re not viewing content on an HDR screen right now no video will do it justice… just try not to leave your friend’s house with their display.

And to see it for yourself, LG UltraGear monitors are available now in South Africa, in a variety of models offering resolutions, refresh rates, sizes and other features to suit your needs.

Look out for UltraGear whose classic red and black livery you can see in the image above. It combines sharp angles with a distinctive ring accent on the back of the monitor which helps set it apart.

The almost borderless design also makes multi-monitor setups all the more immersive, again perfect for simulator buffs who love the triple (or more) monitor option. While these kinds of setups usually use third-party monitor mounts, consider the great bases that come stock from LG as these stands feature adjustability to fit your desired outcome.
