LOQ is Lenovo’s new “affordable” PC gaming brand

  • Lenovo has revealed a new gaming hardware sub brand called LOQ (pronounced lock).
  • This new lineup features four gaming notebooks and one tower at launch.
  • These devices are said to be designed for newcomers to gaming, along with not breaking the bank when it comes to cost.

Lenovo has new gaming hardware sub brand called LOQ. Pronounced lock, this new brand is designed to complement the existing Legion gaming notebooks that Lenovo has launched with regularity each year, and aimed specifically at first time or newcomers to PC gaming, according to the company.

It adds that the new LOQ lineup is priced not to break the bank, with four models of gaming notebook and one tower debuting from Lenovo.

“Inspired by Lenovo’s premium Legion-branded gaming line-up, the new Lenovo LOQ line encompasses more than just design features such as the rear I/O notch on its laptops and the shared stylized ‘O’ in both brands’ logos,” noted Lenovo in a blog post.

“The two sub-brands are complementary in catering to a wider gaming community, including beginner gamers setting off on their gaming paths to greatness with Lenovo LOQ as well as those leveling up to Lenovo Legion devices to compete against more advanced opponents,” it added.

As for what’s on offer, as mentioned, four notebooks and one tower make up the current LOQ lineup. These include:

  • Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8,
  • Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8,
  • Lenovo LOQ 16APH8,
  • Lenovo LOQ 15APH8,
  • Lenovo LOQ Tower 17IRB8.

Running through the devices, there are a pair of 15″ and 16″ gaming notebooks that have been split between Intel-powered and AMD-powered skews. For reference, RH model numbers are for the former and APH are for the latter.

Here Lenovo confirms that the key differentiator between the two pairs is the screen size, as up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H processor is available on both the 15″ and 16″ notebook, while the AMD flavoured options can be kitted out in up to a Ryzen 7 7840HS processor.

As for the graphics, all four models can be specced up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU 8 GB GDDR6 option. Other ubiquitous features include WQXGA 165Hz VRR displays, up to 16GB Dual Channel 5600Mhz DDR5 Memory, and up to 1TB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 2242 SSDs.

Shifting to the tower, it is Intel through and through. Here the 17-litre volume chassis is running up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700, and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs. Added to this is up to 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3200 MHz DDR4, and a hybrid storage orientation of up to 2 TB 3.5″ SATA HDD 7200 RPM and p to 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 SSD (Gen 4).

Local availability and pricing for the new LOQ lineup are still in the offing, but Stateside, pricing and availability is as follows:

  • “The Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 with Intel Core processor will start at $1,149.99 and is expected to be available starting May 2023.
  • The Lenovo LOQ 16APH8 with AMD Ryzen processor will start at $1149.99 and is expected to be available starting June 2023.
  • The Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 with Intel Core processor will start at $899.99 and is expected to be available starting April 2023.

  • The Lenovo LOQ Tower 17IRB8 with Intel Core processor will start at $979.99 and is expected to be available starting April 2023.”

Last worth mentioning is that every LOQ device comes with Windows 11 natively and access to three months worth of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC, just like Legion offerings. Added to this is support for the Legion Arena app, and Lenovo Premium Care after sales.
