Comic Con 2023 set to host Telkom VS Gaming finals

  • Telkom VS Gaming will host several finals at Comic Con Africa at the end of September.
  • The finals include Telkom VS Gaming’s High School leagues.
  • Over the weekend teams will compete for a share of a R615 000 prize pool.

This month Comic Con Africa returns to the Johannesburg Expo Centre to give the Northern part of the country a place to celebrate all things geek.

For those who enjoy esports, Telkom VS Gaming will be hosting a number of events on the day including the Masters Season 8 finals and the VS Gaming Championship Season 3 Finals. These finals come after a year of hard fought games and the teams competing during Comic Con stand to win a share of a R615 000 prize pool. That’s combined of course.

The VS Gaming Masters Season 8 Finals will see defending champions from 2022 Nixuh facing seven teams including Bravado Gaming, Nibble, Royalty Esports, Goliath Gaming, VYBN Esports, GFX MuscleMen, and KitsuneZA.

Eight teams will also be competing in the VS Gaming Championship Season 3 Finals including Water, Bird, White Rabbit Gaming, Monarch Realm, Unity Esports, Team Fusion, Reformed, and Red.

For fans of Football, or the esports version of it anyway, the eDiski Season 6 finals will also be taking place at Comic Con this year. Players Zaid, Cassim, Yvng Savage, NansTwoTeth, BOBO, Baller3456, Deevak2309, and Zaheero competing for the title of eDiski Champion.

Finally, two of Telkom VS Gaming’s High School leagues will conclude at Comic Con Africa at the end of this month. These include the CS:GO Season 6 finals and the Rocket League Season 3 finals. The former sees and the returning champion Parklands College competing to win.

Hoërskool Waterkloof also find itself in the the Rocket League High School league facing off against Hoërskool Oos-Moot.

Telkom will also have its Next Gen Village at Comic Con Africa where attendees can meet with professional gamers, comic creators, cosplayers and more.

For those who can’t make it to Comic Con the tournaments listed above can be streamed over on Telkom VS Gaming’s YouTube channel.

Tickets for Comic Con Africa cost R200 per day or R700 for a weekend pass. Tickets are available from Howler online.
