Capcom confirms hands-on Gamescom 2024 lineup

  • Capcom has detailed the titles it will be showcasing at Gamescom 2024 later this month.
  • The leading title the developer/publisher will be making available on the event floor is Monster Hunter Wilds.
  • Gamescom 2024 is scheduled from 21st to 25th August in Cologne, Germany.

While E3 did not take place last year, and will not be happening next year, in terms of in-person gaming events, Gamecom in Cologne, Germany remains a regular fixture on the calendar.

With this in mind, developer/publisher Capcom has confirmed the lineup of titles it will be showcasing at the event, and what it will be giving attendees the chance to get some hands-on time with.

As you can tell from the header image above, the title that will be getting a lot of attention is Monster Hunter Wilds.

“Having announced the very first playable opportunity for Monster Hunter Wilds back in June, the publisher confirms a number of other world-first hands-on opportunities coming to the show in Cologne this month,” Capcom highlighted in a release sent to Hypertext.

The game, which still does not have a precise cross-platform release date for 2025 at the time of writing, will have many areas set up for Gamescom attendees to get stuck in.

“The Capcom show floor will feature more than 60 playable demo stations for Monster Hunter Wilds over 900 square meters. The first time it has been made playable to the public, Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, executive director, and art director Kaname Fujioka, and director Yuya Tokuda, will also be present to deliver even more insights on Capcom’s very own Gamescom stage,” it added.

Along with forthcoming title in the Monster Hunter series, some other recent releases will be getting some love at Gamescom 2024. On this front, Capcom noted that its booth will also feature a, “global first hands-on with the newest, and first-ever guest character in the Street Fighter series, Terry Bogard, from SNK’s Fatal Fury series. Fans can get to grips with Terry and try out his moves ahead of his release in Autumn this year.”

Other hands-on experiences include Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, which releases on 6th September, the recently released Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Monster Hunter Now.

Regarding the former, the developer/publisher said that, “Attendees can try an epic Monster Hunter Now-themed AR Camera activation and participate in a special quest on Gamescom’s EPIX platform for a chance to win fantastic prizes.”

While many of us will not be able to enjoy the hands-on experiences, it is clear that Monster Hunter Wilds is the biggest forthcoming game release on Capcom’s agenda.
