Circle to Search coming to these Galaxy A phones next month

  • Samsung is expanding its Circle to Search feature to more devices in a few weeks time.
  • Selected models of Galaxy A, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+ will receive the feature in an update.
  • It is unclear whether more Galaxy AI-specific features will arrive in the A series too.

When Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, much of the talk was focused on Galaxy AI and its handful of features that are supported by generative AI on the flagship phones. In the months since, Samsung has rolled out this functionality to other flagship devices, and now the Circle to Search feature is coming to selected Galaxy A phones.

This, Samsung confirmed in a blog post this week, noting that the functionality is also being expanded to two tablet models – the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+.

“Circle to Search has quickly become a fan favourite since launching on the Galaxy S24 series, offering a transformative experience of discovery that goes beyond traditional search methods. As it expanded to more Galaxy devices, including the latest Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, Circle to Search has continuously evolved to enhance its usability and intuitiveness, including adding full-page translation, homework help, and QR and barcode scanning capabilities,” highlighted Samsung Mobile.

“Now, with Circle to Search on the Galaxy A series and Galaxy Tab S9 FE series we’re bringing the ability to ask more complex questions about what you see to even more of Samsung’s product lineup,” it added.

As for the specific models that will receive the feature, a footnote on the aforementioned blog post makes mention of the, “Galaxy A55, A54, A35, and A34.” It also explained that, “Availability of Circle to Search updates may vary by device model and market.”

So, we know which models of Galaxy A will get the feature, but the date next month when they are expected to rollout, remains unknown.

As for the prospect of other Galaxy AI features coming to the mid-range series in Samsung’s smartphone lineup? Much of this will depend on the hardware. While Circle to Search can be framed as an extension of Google Lens, which is not a processor intensive function, native Galaxy AI features like Live Translate and Transcribe Assist are.

It will likely depend on what processor the Galaxy A phone is powered by, to determine whether it can fully support Galaxy AI. As such, it may be newer models of Galaxy A that gain the functionality instead of Samsung wanting to make it backwards compatible for older mid-range devices.

Either way, if you own a Galaxy A55, A54, A35, or A34, you should soon be able to Circle to Search like your Galaxy Z and S brethren.
