Disney Plus getting a price hike in October

  • Disney Plus will be more expensive in selected regions from October onwards.
  • The streaming service is introducing a new playlist feature Stateside next month.
  • Individual, Monthly, and Annual plans for the service are getting more expensive in the US.

If you are a Disney Plus subscriber in the United States, access to the streaming service will be getting more expensive in October.

The company confirmed the news while announcing that it is adding continuous playlists to its core subscription on-demand offering in the US. “This new feature bolsters the Disney+ offering, ahead of updated pricing for various plans later this year, providing subscribers with both a live and on-demand streaming experience that will continue to grow throughout the year,” it shared in a press release.

“Whether its news, kids’ content, popular genres, hit TV shows or blockbuster films, there will be something for everyone in a lean-back viewing experience based on seasonality and interest,” added Alisa Bowen, president of Disney Plus.

As for the price increase, it comes into effect on 17th October 2024 for Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN+ ad-supported and ad-free plans in the US.

The new pricing for those Stateside from 17th October is as follows:

How Disney Plus subscribers in the US will react to the price hikes remains to be seen, but at the time of writing, those in South Africa do not have an increase looming in a couple of months. Hopefully it stays that way, especially as the streaming service is one of the more expensive locally. Should a price hike be on the horizon, we will inform our readers accordingly.
