Great Yellow Brick – the online platform for the physical LEGO Certified Stores in South Africa – is running a fun promotion for the month of August called “Spin to Win”.

Once per day shoppers can visit the site’s main page spin the wheel. To play you will need to input an email address as whatever you win will need to be activated by a code that will be emailed to you. Once you have the code you will need to shop on Great Yellow Brick and buy almost anything on the site to the value of R300 or more. On checkout you can redeem that code and your order will either receive a discount or a free toy, depending on your luck when spinning.

Now it’s worth noting here that Great Yellow Brick has free shipping on all orders, so even if you order only barely scrapes by past R300, you will have it delivered for free.

As for what you can win, here are the options on the wheel, in the order they appear:

1. Oops try again tomorrow – Nothing.
2. LEGO gift set – A surprise LEGO set that can range from themes such as Iconic, ICONS, Brick Sketches and many more.
3. LEGO keychain – A surprise LEGO keychain.
4. 10 percent off – A discount code to reduce the cost of your order.
5. LEGO Merchandise – A surprise LEGO branded piece of merchandise such as bags, minifigure sets, storage items, play accessories and many more.
6. 5 percent off – A discount code to reduce the cost of your order.
7. LEGO BrickHeadz set – A surprise LEGO BrickHeadz set (see below for more).
8. 15 percent off – A discount code to reduce the cost of your order.

Out of these options, the BrickHeadz one requires a bit more of an explanation. For those unaware, BrickHeadz are LEGO’s answer to Funko Pop figures, giving you a deformed version of a popular character that you can build. Also like Funko Pops, these includes a huge amount of IPs such as Marvel, DC, Disney, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Sonic, Harry Potter and more.

“If you have won a Brickheadz prize, it still works the same as the Gift Set, Keychain, and Merchandise prize. If you are placing an order for one or more of the LEGO Brickheadz and you add your Spin To Win Brickheadz prize coupon to the discount code field, it will not discount the value of the Brickhead, or multiple Brickheadz, in your order. The price of your order will still stay the same after the “SPIN-BRICKH” coupon code has been redeemed, instead what will happen is you will receive a ANOTHER surprise FREE LEGO Brickheadz with your order,” reads the terms and conditions.

What this means is that getting the BrickHeadz option off of the wheel will not affect the cost of buying any Brickheadz sets, instead you will get an extra random one in your order.

Randomness is the name of the game with the Spin to Win. We have been watching the promotion play out since it launched recently and even placed an order ourselves. We won the “LEGO Merchandise” slot on the wheel and, with our order, we get set 40345: Mars Exploration Minifigure Pack included for free. This set is actually retired and can’t even be bought these days, so it was a nice inclusion. This is one of the “minifigure sets” mentioned in the list of prizes above.

We’ve seen most people very happy with the system and the random prizes they’re getting. The one pain point is the wheel sometimes not popping up when visiting the Great Yellow Brick website. If that happens try open the site in a private window, clear your cache or simply click on the “win a prize!” button that will appear in the bottom right hand side of the site.
