New Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3 expected locally soon

  • Fujifilm has announced its latest instant film printer in the form of the Instax Mini Link 3.
  • This new model adds Instax AiR Studio and Click to Collage to the mix.
  • No precise launch date has been confirmed, but it is slated to launch in South Africa.

We have been big fans of Fujifilm’s portable instant film printers ever since they were introduced in 2019, with them being a great option for those who enjoy the nostalgic look of the prints, but want the ease of accessing their smartphone camera roll to select images.

Now the latest in the lineup, the Instax Mini Link 3, has been revealed, and is on its way to South Africa.

While Fujifilm SA has not confirmed a precise local launch date, it has shared recommended pricing for the new photography accessory. Before we detail that, however, let’s see how the new model improves on the predecessor.

“The Mini Link 3 is the third generation of the popular Instax Mini Link series of printers and brings two new functions to the table – Instax AiR Studio and Click to Collage,” highlights Fujifilm SA in a press release sent to Hypertext.

For those unfamiliar with either of those two features, AiR Studio allows for several editing options pre-print, such as choosing a background template, adding decorative imagery like balloons, hearts and garlands, and even animated effects.

As for Click to Collage, it allows users to create collage prints from a series of photos, similar to an old school photo booth. Via the dedicated Mini Link app users can take up to six images. “When the created collage image is printed by the Mini Link 3, an Instax Animation feature combines these multiple images into flipbook video, with anyone able to view the video by scanning the accompanying QR code printed on the Instax print,” the company adds.

Other elements with highlighting include bright pastel LEDs on the front panel which help to indicate the functionality of the Mini Link 3, as well as it weighing 210g, printing in 15 seconds, and images taking 90 seconds to develop. The built-in Lithium-Ion battery supports print up to 100 instant Mini prints from a full charge.

The Instax Mini Link 3 printer will be launched in South Africa in three colours – Clay White (pictured in the header), Rose Pink, and Sage Green. The recommended retail price of the Mini Link 3 is R2 599.
