  • Peach Payments has appointed a new head of country and director for Mauritius in Uways Kureeman.
  • He holds an MBA and an MSc in AI as well as years of experience in the finance sector.
  • This appointment allows former director Sandeep Chagger to immerse himself in the role of Group Chief Operating Officer.

Locally founded fintech operation Peach Payments has been expanding its footprint into Kenya and Mauritius over the last few years. Today, the company announced the appointment of a new head for its operations in Mauritius.

Peach Payments’ new country head and director for the country is Uways Kureeman (pictured, left). He will report to the person who previously held those positions, Sandeep Chagger (pictured, right) who has been Peach Payments’ Group Chief Operating Officer since February.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kureeman has spent much of his professional career in the finance sector. Before joining Peach Payments he was the general manager of ICL for Mauritius and Zambia. His skillset includes business development, financial reporting, financial analysis and AI. For a fintech company such as Peach Payments this is a great hire.

The new director is a graduate in computer science and holds an MBA and an MSc in AI.

“I am confident that Uways, with his substantial experience in technology implementations, strong business network, and passion for digitisation, will accelerate Peach Payments’ growth and innovation in Mauritius and the region. His successful leadership tenure as the General Manager of ICL in Mauritius and Zambia is testament to his capabilities and potential contributions,” said Chagger of the new appointment.

“With 12 years’ experience in different technologies, I am now ready to dive into the world of digital payments. I have always been passionate about promoting the use of IT tools, and as country manager, I can explore my passion while helping the Mauritian economy to reach the next threshold of digitalisation,” Kureeman said of his new position.

With this new appointment, Chagger will be able to fully immerse himself in the role of COO while Kureeman will help to grow the business further and expand digital payments to other regions.
