• The Department of Basic Education has confirmed to Hypertext that the 2024 Matric rewrite results will be released in two batches.
• The first batch will cover results for learners in the Western Cape, North West, Limpopo and the Free State to be released on 7th August 2024.
• The second batch is to be released on 12th August 2024, with results for the rest of the country.

The 2024 Matric Rewrite results for the 2023 edition of the Second Chance Matric Programme are set to be released on Wednesday 7th August 2024, the Department of Basic Education has confirmed to Hypertext, but only in certain provinces.

Former matric learners and repeaters wrote their second-chance exams in May and June this year either for better marks in the hopes of entering different university programmes or to finish their matric year after not being successful in 2023.

The Department of Basic Education offers a number of services to learners who have embarked on the Second Chance Programme to better prepare them before their 2024 matric rewrites, and the department also hosts the results on its official website.

We have been trying to reach the department this morning, but the Chief Directorate for National Assessment and Public Examinations is “in meetings the whole day” and there is no existing place online that has the information on which provinces will get their rewrite results today, the person in charge of their office has told us.

However, we did manage to confirm the release dates for the results and the provinces they will be released.

The release dates for the Second Chance Matric Programme 2024

According to the department, the 2024 matric rewrite results will be released in two batches according to provinces. The first batch is indeed set to be released today on 7th August 2024, but these results will only be for learners in:

• Western Cape,
• Limpopo,
• Free State,
• and the North West.

The second batch that will cover the results for the other provinces, including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern and Northern Capes and Mpumalanga will be released on 12th August 2024.

How to get your matric rewrite results in 2024:

When the results are finally available, learners should head to the department’s official exam results page and simply input their student numbers – you can find that page here.

Once here you will have to enter your exam number, the one you wrote down on all of your answer sheets. Then hit ‘search’ to begin looking for your results. Remember this will depend on the province in which you wrote the exams, with all results available after 12th August.

You can also request to have your rewrite results rechecked and remarked if you are not happy with them.
