SPEEDRUN – August petrol prices

This week is one of the more important for local motorists this month, as the Central Energy Fund (CEF) has advised on what the August petrol pricing will be.

To that end, from 7th August 2024, prices for petrol this month will decrease, offering South Africans a slight reprieve from the ongoing financial constraints they’ve had to deal with this year.

Per the CEF, the pricing changes for August are as follows:

  • “Petrol 93 to decrease by 15 cents per litre,
  • Petrol 95 to decrease by 15 cents per litre,
  • Diesel 0.05 percent to decrease by 28 cents per litre,
  • Diesel 0.005 percent to decrease by 17 cents per litre,
  • Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale) to decrease by 22 cents per litre,
  • Liquid petroleum gas to decrease by 13 cents per kg.”

“According to the CEF, the decreases are once again attributed to the Rand gaining against the US Dollar, from R18.44 to R18.23 during the period under review,” wrote Luis Monzon.

Along with the August petrol prices, this morning’s SPEEDRUN roundup includes a solar powered hat, ewaste called in 2023, another Musk lawsuit, falling tech stocks, and AI-powered medical advice.
