- Acer has revealed three new Swift laptops to add to its lightweight PC range.
- The new hardware falls under Acer’s expanded lineup of Copilot+ laptops.
- The trio of Swift laptops are expected in selected markets later this month.
It would not be a Next@Acer event without new laptops from the Taiwanese company. Hosting its pre-IFA 2024 press conference earlier today, it did not disappoint in that department, unveiling three new Acer Swift laptops as part of an expanded lineup of Copilot+ supporting hardware.
The new Acer Swift laptop models are the Swift Go 14 AI, Swift 14 AI, and Swift 16 AI (pictured above).
“Our new Swift AI PCs reflect our commitment to continue enhancing the way users work, learn, and play through our devices. The new Swift laptops are powered by some of the most powerful AI processors available today, and we are excited to bring the latest advancements and PC experiences to the hands of more people,” explained James Lin, general manager for Notebooks at Acer Inc.
Looking at what is powering the new hardware, the Swift Go 14 features the Snapdragon X Plus platform, with 8 high-performance CPU cores that clock up to 3.4 GHz. Added to this is an integrated Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that delivers up to 45 TOPS, along with up to 32GB LPDDR5X memory and up to a 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
As for the other models in the refreshed Acer Swift lineup, the Swift 14 AI and 16 AI lean on Intel’s next-gen processors to power things, with up to the Intel Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 available respectively. There is also an AMD skew for the Swift 14 AI, although its unclear if that model where be launched in a region like South Africa.
According to Acer, the Intel-powered hardware, “deliver best-in-class AI performance with new Intel Core Ultra processors that optimize processing across the CPU, built-in Intel Arc graphics, and next-gen neural processing unit (NPU) to accelerate AI workloads.”
“As a result, the new laptops can accelerate generative AI tasks and creations with ease. They also feature new P-cores and E-cores designed for uncompromised performance while delivering exceptional power efficiency and battery life,” it added in a release shared with Hypertext.
While availability and pricing for South Africa is yet to be confirmed, the Acer Swift 14 AI (SF14-51/T) will be available in North America in September, starting at $1 199 (~R21 496). The Swift 16 AI (SF16-51/T) will be available in North America in October, starting at $1 199 too. Lastly the Swift Go 14 AI (SFG14-01) will be available in North America in September, starting at $999 (~R17 907).
