SA-developed STASIS gets a launch trailer

I’m so excited: in amongst all the incredible gaming news coming out of GamesCom right now, as well as in general – there are SO MANY GAMES to look forward to that I will need months of leave to play everything coming out later this year – a launch trailer for STASIS, a South African-developed adventure game I backed on Kickstarter, has been released.

And it’s looking pretty good, too, thanks to some creepy audio to go along with its rather disturbing visuals that introduce the game’s central concept quite nicely, that of awakening on a supposedly-derelict mining spaceship that’s actually been repurposed for a more sinister function.

Check it out:

In case you don’t know, in STASIS you’ll play as John Maracheck, a mysterious man who is wandering around the Groomlake, in pain and looking for his wife and child as the ship plunges ever-closer towards Neptune’s surface.

He’ll discover more about the ship’s dark purpose as he searches, and face all kinds of dangers that can, and will, end his life in graphic ways, as was the case with the adventure games of the 90s from which STASIS draws part of its inspiration.

The game looks pretty amazing considering it’s mostly the work of just one man, and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it when it launches.

STASIS is out on the 31st of August on GOG.com and Steam, for PC only and costs $19.99.
