When lockdown began in March, we saw an increased number of South Africans working from home. In order to assist those still needing access and connectivity, a number of ISPs started offering promotions, as far as line speeds and capacity were concerned.
One such ISP was Cool Ideas, which announced its Double-Up Promo which doubled line speeds for its customers depending on the network provider they were with.
Said Promo began in April, but it is now set to come to an end. As such, customers should be receiving alerts to that end in their inboxes, pointing out that the Promo finishes on 31st July.
It means customers will be heading back to their original line speeds, with the exception of those on the FrogFoot infrastructure, as the network provider has said that it will continue with the promotion indefinitely.
“We know just how important it is to stay online and connected during this time. Whilst the upgraded speeds were a great assistance during the initial months of the Corona Virus Pandemic, unfortunately, it is not feasible for most FNO’s to continue,” explains the Cool Ideas alert sent to customers.
“If you enjoyed the speeds, are still working from home, or simply need a faster connection, you are welcome to upgrade your speed for however long you may need to. As always, we understand that situations may change and so both the upgrade and downgrade process are very simple,” it adds.
The ISP also notes that its team can facilitate upgrades to line speeds, with it taking between two to five days to complete. For those wanting to downgrade, they need to be issued before the 20th of the month in order to take effect from the 1st of the following month.
As more South Africans will continue to work or study from home, we suspect quite a few Cool Ideas customers will be wanting to upgrade in order to ensure that enough line speed is on hand.
