Award-winning videogame writer to hold SA seminar in 2014

Are you a writer? Do you love videogames? Would you like to learn more about writing for the videogaming industry from someone who has done it well enough to have won awards for it? Then you’ll be happy to know that the Writer’s Guild of South Africa will be bringing Andrew S. Walsh out to Johannesburg and Cape Town in May 2014 to deliver a seminar on doing that and more, as reported by Bizcommunity.

Mr. Walsh has worked on more than sixty games, including blockbusters like the Prince of Persia, Fable and Need for Speed series. His work has been good enough for him to be awarded the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Videogames Award in 2009 for his contributions to Prince of Persia.

His knowledge extends beyond just that of videogame writing, having written plays and worked in film and television as well, and he will be sharing his accumulated experience across all of these spheres in the talks and interactive writing challenges he will deliver at the seminar.

Writers’ Guild members get a R700 discount off the member price of R3500 if they register for the seminar before December 31, 2013. Non-members also qualify for an early-bird discount if they get in, and pay R4000 rather than the R5000 non-member price. Bookings are essential.

The seminar will be held in Johannesburg on the 10th and 11th of May and in Cape Town on the 17th and 18th of  May, 2014. If you’d like to register, contact the Writers’ Guild of South Africa directly.
