These days, a lot of people prefer to save on petrol and avoid the business of malls and instead, shop online from the comfort of their homes. These five shopping apps for Windows 8.1 will help you find just what you’re looking for:

The Amazon app allows you to quickly make purchases, search, compare prices, read reviews, and share products with friends using Amazon’s easy-to-use interface. In fact, you can shop just as you do on the web. Simply select your desired shipping destination and log-in for full access to your existing cart and wish lists. You can also search for products, add them to your shopping cart, buy gift cards and review items.

OLX is the biggest online classifieds site in South Africa featuring products and services in a range of categories like video, music, furniture, cars, electronics, appliances, decor, catering and much more. Buying or selling is fairly simple and efficient. You can find products and services in your area using the geolocation of your PC or tablet, or even post your own free ad complete with a pic and quick write-up.

Yellow Pages SA

The Yellow Pages have been around for quite a while and have always been handy in locating businesses and services in and around your area. Just as with the print version, the Yellow Pages SA Windows 8.1 app gives you localised search results for businesses near and around you, whether you’re looking for government services like hospitals or plumbers and electricians. For easy future reference, you can also save all your searches .

Fashionistas and fans of Zara will appreciate the Spanish brand’s shopping app. Find Zara’s women, men, kids and baby clothing, new arrivals and browse the monthly Zara Lookbook. You can also have a look through Zara’s latest film, online and photo campaigns. Buy a gift card from the app and give a loved one the Zara shopping experience.  Zara South Africa is not listed (yet!) but you’re free to shop any of the other worldwide stores.
