Attention inventors, makers and anyone who fears robots: #TechTalkCPT is happening next week, and this time the topic of discussion will be on “How to survive the robot uprising”.

The folks over at KAT-O have decided to take pre-emptive measures of their own by hosting two speakers who will address the topic.

Dirk Brand will teach attendees how to teach robots to perform magic tricks using AI, text processing and machine learning (in order make them a little friendlier to humanity, presumably) and founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of BusinessOptics, James Saunders will be guiding those in attendance through the scary possibility of human obsolescence as we start replacing manual labourers with robots.

Want to attend? Check out the details below:

DATE: Wednesday, 16th September

TIME: 18:00 (Speakers commence at 19:00)

VENUE: 75 Harrington Street, Cape Town

COST: General: R120
General with food: R150

Tickets are available through Quicket and at the door, though we advise you reserve tickets early for this one as there’s sure to be a lot of interest.

And thanks to KAT-O, we have a VIP ticket to give away to one lucky reader. All you need to do is tell us which famous robot you would like to be your friend during the inevitable robot uprising, and why.

Simple, right? Give us your answer and contact information in the form below and we’ll select the best winner when the competition closes on Tuesday.
