Media24’s exit from academic ebooks could be a problem for learners

In what was a bit of a blow for learners who made use of downloadable study material, Media24 announced last month that it’s On The Dot division is exiting the academic e-book market, and that orders through the My Studies website will come to a close.

That closing date is approaching fast, as the last date for ordering has been set to 6th July, while learners and retailers will have until 31st August to download the last remaining orders.

Regular orders through My Studies will still be fulfilled, but not orders that originate from On The Dot.

For a bit of background, MyStudies “enables retailers and institutions to offer quality and enriched content through the internet without having to invest in costly infrastructure, making e-learning accessible to all,” it explained on the website.

Through the years, it managed to work with 115 publishers and make over 208 000 unique digital titles available.

The company added that on 6th July, retailer order services through My Studies will terminate and it will no longer accept or process any new orders. “Books can be allocated and downloads by your customers and students up until 31 August 2016. On 31 August 2016 all services will be terminated, and no support will be available subsequent to 31 August 2016,” it said in a press statement.
