Build an app that improves your community in the Rocket APT Challenge

Local UT distributor Axis has announced that it will be sponsoring the regional round of the Rocket APT Challenge.

The challenge encourages 39 local students to create an application that improves their community using the Rocket MultiValue application platform.

The challenge takes place in three regions of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

Each region will select three winners who will receive the following prize money.

  • Third place – $1 000
  • Second place – $2 500
  • First place – $5 000

All nine winners from the regions will also receive an all expenses-paid trip to the  Rocket.Build 2019 event where they will compete in teams of three for a grand prize of $24 000.

“This is a fantastic innovation challenge that provides students with an opportunity to hone their coding skills on a leading software platform. South Africa is by far the bigger pool of entrants and we are excited to see who is selected for the global Rocket.Build 2019 Hackathon,” Axiz pre-sales engineer, Colleen Becker, said in a statement.

Becker goes on to say that Axiz is committed to growing the number of coders on the Rocket platform but recognises the opportunity the challenge presents.

“There is a global opportunity for students to graduate into a developing industry and support the growing shortage of MultiValue-certified coders. Participants also stand the chance of receiving an internship from participating partners across all industry sectors,” Becker adds.

To enter you must be 18 or older and be studying in the fields of engineering, science or technology at an accredited college or university.

If you match that description you can pop an email over to colleen.becker@axiz.com for more information about entering.
