Cadillac getting into electric car game and shares sneak peek pics

Over the past year, a number of the world’s top carmakers have laid out their ambitions to have more electric vehicles on the roads. While European and Asian firms have pioneered the EV craze, those in the States have been a little less willing lay down markers.

One of the companies now joining the EV wave is Cadillac, with a pair of teaser images being shared online recently.

Unfortunately further details are rather sparse, with Cadillac simply noting that this new EV will be one of several that they plan to debut over the coming years.

“Cadillac’s EV will hit the heart of the crossover market and meet the needs of customers around the world,” says Steve Carlisle, president of Cadillac. “It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility,” he adds.

Sadly there is no name or even a timeline for the release of the new EV imaged here.

What is known is that the forthcoming EV will be the first to part of GM’s (which owns the company among other carmakers) new electric vehicle platform. As such the Cadillac car will be one of many that GM will be electrifying.

The company also adds that its EVs will be configurable in either rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, along with a range of different battery options.

With Tesla pretty much dominating in the EV field Stateside, it should be interesting to see if Cadillac and GM will be able to infringe on their sizeable market share.
