God of War has favourable South Africa pricing on Steam

Previously a PlayStation exclusive, God of War 2018 now has a Steam page for its upcoming PC debut and for South Africans looking to buy it the localised pricing is favourable.

In the USA this port of the game cost $49.99 which, at the time of writing, converts to around R721.70. The South African price for the game, however, is R599.

While some may argue that both prices are still too high for a game that has released a few years ago, God of War is one of the best games we’ve ever played and we only have good things to say about it. R599 is a good price of the game given the quality and playtime of the title.

We can explore the Steam page for more details to find support for 4K, unlocked framerates, ultra-wide (21:9) displays, Nvidia DLSS, Nvidia Reflex and full control customisation.

Wide controller support is promised so, in theory, you can play this PlayStation game on PC using an Xbox controller, which is a sentence we never thought we’d type.

Unfortunately no system requirements have been provided just yet with DirectX Version 11, Windows 10 and 80GB of storage the only details provided so far.

“All of us at Santa Monica Studio have been humbled by the immense amount of support and passions fans of the God of War series have shown in the latest chapter of Kratos’ story since its release. As of August 2021, 19.5MM copies for God of War on PlayStation 4 have been sold and we can’t wait to share that experience with a whole new group of players on PC!” reads part of the announcement.

Some extra in-game items will also accompany the PC port:

  • Death’s Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus
  • Exile’s Guardian Shield Skin
  • Buckler of the Forge Shield Skin
  • Shining Elven Soul Shield Skin
  • Dökkenshieldr Shield Skin

God of War releases on PC on 14th January 2022.
