Mac-focused Apple event happening this evening at 19:00

If you are still hankering for some hardware after the middling iPhone 13 launch of a few weeks ago, you are in luck as there is an Apple event happening this evening at 19:00 local time.

It is the first of three big consumer electronics events this week, with Apple, Google and Samsung readying to showcase new hardware in the coming days.

As for the Apple event, is it believed to be heavily focused on the Mac lineup, with a pair of new MacBooks and redesigned Mac Mini all rumoured. For fans of the AirPods, a new iteration is also said to be on the way this evening.

While improvements across the board are being touted, such as mini LEDs for the displays, the most important aspect for us will be the silicon, as the yet-to-confirmed Apple M1X chipset is expected to be showcased.

Apple has been hard at work expanding its foundry and to date the results of the M1 have been impressive, so it will be interesting to see what enhancements the X-version yields.

As such, it would see the relationship between Arm and Apple develop further, while Intel are becoming an increasing distant memory for the Cupertino-based firm.

There are no official specifications for the M1X just yet, but it is believed to have ten cores, which is two more than the M1, as well as 16 or 32 core options for the graphics elements of the chipset, which is more than double that of the M1.

If you have Apple devices on hand or make use of Apple TV, you can watch the live streamed event at 19:00 local time here, with others capable of viewing the event on Apple’s YouTube channel.

We’ve also embedded a link below if that works better.
