We enter the weekend with power as Eskom announced a lifting of loadshedding at 5:00 this morning.
Whether we will have power throughout the weekend and into next week remains to be seen, but for now it is a positive in what has otherwise been a tough two weeks. Another positive is the latest numbers regarding COVID-19 in South Africa.
To that end, the latest report from the National Department of Health (NDoH) confirms that 356 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours, as daily figures remain relatively low this week.
This sees the total number of infections recorded to date rise to 2 924 978. Added to this is 17 newly reported fatalities, as the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa increases to 89 452.
The department also notes that the recovery rate continues to remain unchanged, as it has done all of this week, with it currently sitting at 96.4 percent. There have been over 18.83 million tests conducted to date too.
As for the vaccine rollout, the past 24 hours continues to see solid turnout at vaccine sites across the country as 136 550 jabs have been administered. As of 17:00 on 11th November, a total of 23 684 440 vaccines have been administered, with an estimated 13 225 253 people fully vaccinated at this stage.
