As we get ever closer to the festive season and the predicted fourth wave of infections for COVID-19 in South Africa, each daily report from the National Department of Health (NDoH) is scrutinised for signs of any impending surge in cases.
For now, the daily reports have yielded low figures, with no peaks in the past month or so. The same applies to the latest NDoH report, with the department confirming that 273 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours.
This sees the total number of infections recorded for SA to date climb to 2 926 348. The NDoH also notes that 15 fatalities have been reported too, as the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa increases to 89 504.
The recovery rate is the only statistic that remains unchanged at 96.4 percent, with 2 820 030 recoveries recorded so far and over 18.96 million tests conducted across the country.
As for the vaccine, the past 24 hours has seen 134 586 jabs administered, with turnout at vaccination sites proving steady for now. As of 17:00 on 16th November, a total of 24 216 614 vaccines administered in South Africa, while an estimated 13 583 910 people fully vaccinated at this stage.
