Stage 2 loadshedding starts at 16:00 on Tuesday

Following a brief respite from loadshedding on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Eskom has once again declared that loadshedding will be implemented on Tuesday afternoon.

Stage loadshedding will kick in at 16:00 on Tuesday afternoon and conclude at 05:00 on Wednesday morning.

“This afternoon a generation unit at Kusile power station tripped adding to the contraints,” Eskom said in a power alert.

“A unit eat at Matimba and Arnot powerstation failed to return to service as previously anticipated. These constraints are expected to persist for the rest of the week which may require the loadshedding to be extended. We are currently utilising emergency generation reserves extensively to supplement supply,” the utility added.

While things were grim last week, the situation has deteriorated substantially with 21 384MW of generation capacity currently unavailable due to both planned maintenance and unplanned breakdowns.

As always, we advise checking out the Eskom loadshedding site and Eskomsepush on mobile to keep up to date with what times your area will be affected and when to charge necessary devices for the coming week.
