UCT Online High School & Sanlam extend scholarship programme to Grades 8, 9 and 10

Ever since the UCT Online High School was announced in July of this year, the tertiary institution has been preparing for its first intake of learners for 2022.

Part of that process has been a Scholarship Programme sponsored by Sanlam, which too was announced recently, but due to an overwhelming number of applications and queries, the programme has been extended to include four Grades for 2022.

More specifically the UCT Online High School confirms that Grades 8, 9 and 10 are eligible for application, on top of the 100 Grade 7 learners from disadvantaged backgrounds that Sanlam was assisting for next year via the Valenture Institute.

“The award-winning model powered by the Valenture Institute combines academic excellence with the right level of support needed for children to stay motivated while studying in a remote setting,” noted Jeanett Modise, Sanlam’s Group Human Resources director.

“This is one of several initiatives from Sanlam aimed at improving education outcomes. The Group is deeply committed to empowering generations to be financially confident, secure and prosperous. It is currently positively touching the lives of around 560 000 learners throughout South Africa each year, with initiatives ranging from early childhood development and school upliftment programmes,” added the financial institution in a press release sent to Hypertext.

Applications close soon, 17th November to be precise, with the portal to apply available here.

As always, it is important to note that tuition for this digital learning platform excludes elements like notebooks and internet connectivity. That said, UCT still highlights the fact that this is the most affordable option of its kind, with monthly tuition estimated at R2 095.
