You can now take a deep dive into Spotify Charts with a dedicated website

To try to give more musicians the chance to be discovered by users, Spotify has announced the launch of a new website for its multitude of charts.

The Spotify Charts website looks like a regular list of charts from around the world but there is a surprising amount of granularity present here.

For example, you can find the top songs and artists for the week or day in South Africa but you can drill down even further. For example we can see charts for Durban, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Clicking on an artist will show you a smorgasbord of information including how long an artist has been on the charts, when they entered the chart and more.

In addition to the charts Spotify is also launching Promo Cards. These cards can be created by anybody but the idea is that artists can showcase their position on a particular chart. You can see an example of these cards below.

Spotify’s new Promo Cards.

While it’s a nice bit of code that creates these cards, they aren’t exactly functional as artists still need to manually insert a link to their content for fans to follow.

For music nerds such as ourselves this website is really interesting. We learned upon visiting this website that Believer by Imagine Dragons has spent 248 consecutive weeks on the Top Songs Global Chart. Sure it ranks 102 on the chart, but that’s an impressive achievement nonetheless.

The best part of this new offering is that it’s completely free and you’ll only need a Spotify account to see all of the information Spotify makes available.

We hope that these charts have the desired effect of helping more artists be discovered.
