First thousand reviews for Halo Infinite campaign are Very Positive

The singleplayer campaign for Halo Infinite has been out for a couple of days now and we were paying close attention when it crossed a thousand user reviews.

We already know what the critics have to say about the latest Halo adventure but we ventured on to Steam to see what users had to say.

On Valve’s storefront we missed the exact thousand mark on the number of reviews but came in at 1 006. When that happened 82 percent of the reviews were positive leaving the game with a “Very Positive” review rating.

A few hours down the line, at the time of writing, the number of reviews has climbed to 1 322 and 84 percent of them are positive. This is still a Very Positive rating.

We have to say we’re a bit surprised that so few user reviews are in right now, but there are some factors at play here.

First it should be remembered that Halo Infinite launched day one as past of Xbox Game Pass across all its available platforms: PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. We have to imagine many people are playing it through there without paying extra on Steam.

Secondly Halo is very much a series that is famous for being a console shooter and, while Infinite is billed as being “built for PC“, it probably has a lot of players on Xbox right now.

But what about the multiplayer?

The multiplayer component of Halo Infinite got a jump start on the singleplayer by launching early on 15th November. It’s also completely free to download and play so these tow factors mean many more reviews.

At the time of writing, on Steam, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has 100 843 reviews. 79 percent of these are positive so the overall rating is “Mostly Positive”.

This is one step down from the “Very Positive” singleplayer, but the multiplayer has proven much more divisive because of its monetisation and progression systems.

This is due to change soon with Head of Design at 343 Industries, Jerry Hook, recently tweeting that is “feeling everyone’s pain” when it comes to progression.
