Yes you read that headline correctly, despite originally launching in 2019, Nvidia is set to launch a new GeForce RTX 2060 GPU later this month.
This iteration of the RTX 2060 appears to mirror the RTX 2060 SUPER more than the base RTX 2060 albeit with different memory configurations. For your convenience we’ve compiled the specs for each of the RTX 2060 GPUs in the table below.

The biggest question many will have is why Nvidia is releasing an RTX 20-series GPU when its RTX 30-series is the latest family of GPUs. The answer is quite simply, RTX 30-series GPUs are far to pricey for most PC builders.
While we don’t have pricing for these GPUs yet, the hope is that because these GPUs are older, they won’t cost Nvidia and its partners as much to manufacturer.
With that having been said, the GPU maker told The Verge that this is a, “premium version of the RTX 2060 6GB and we expect the price to reflect that”.
With the RTX 2060 6GB currently carrying a retail price of R10 999 locally through Evetech, we shudder at the thought of paying more than that for a GPU which is still three years old at this stage, even if it does have more memory to draw from.
We suppose Nvidia is at least doing something to address the hardware shortage but this also feels like the firm is taking advantage of a market that doesn’t have much in the way of choice at the moment by charging a premium on older hardware.
The new RTX 2060 12GB is expected to become available on 7th December though it’s not clear if that applies to territories outside of the United States.
