Game will put your kid’s stationery list items together for you

Every parent knows the dread of receiving the required stationery list from school. Now, however, retail chain Game has a kind of workaround which seems much simpler than looking through the isles for each item.

As you can see in the promotional image above Game claims that parents can drop off their stationery list and return to the next day to pay for the items which will be put together into a bundle.

“Get your kid ready for 2022 without the added stress. Drop your stationery list off at your nearest store and we will get all your stationery ready for collection the next day,” Game writes on Twitter.

The tweet also links to a store finder to pick out a Game closest to you.

This seems great but when we phoned around to a few local Game stores here in Joburg this promotion wasn’t exactly working as intended.

One employee told us that, instead of this service, customers should simply come in and have someone assistant them on the floor if they can’t find what they are looking for.

Another call to another store revealed that the promotion was still on, but much of their stationery stock was sold out.

This isn’t too surprising as many schools are back tomorrow, 12th January, so we have to imagine that many parents have made their shopping runs to get kids ready for class.

Finally a third store we called was more than happy for us to bring the stationery list over for them to get all the items together for customers.

While Game recommends using the store locator to find the closest location, we recommend rather phoning ahead to ask if this service is still available and there’s a decent amount of stock to fill an order.

We have been informed by a representative of Game that the drop and collect system will be available until 22nd February.
