The Batman and Halo dropped trailers this weekend

It is a gloomy Monday morning here in South Africa, but to help get us through we have some new official content to watch from The Batman as well as Halo.

Starting with Batman and it is also rather gloomy. It’s not exactly a trailer but more of a sneak peak into the funeral scene that we have seen in the trailers before.

Here we learn that the man strapped to a bomb is named Gil Coulson, which this wiki entry states is a district attorney. DAs in Batman movies really have the worst luck, don’t they?

We also see Bruce Wayne standing out quite a lot looking pale and rather brooding, even for a funeral. It seems the Riddler is also in attendance though his face is obscured.

For those worried about spoilers we’d say this video is completely safe. Nothing is really shown about the overall plot that hasn’t been revealed before. The Riddler is kidnapping people and using them as bombs / messages to Batman, and again we knew that from other sources before this.

The Batman launches only in theatres on 4th March.

On to Halo and, for some reason, this trailer isn’t uploaded to YouTube. The Paramount+ official YouTube channel doesn’t have it available so we have to deal with the crushing compression of Twitter.

That aside this trailer has really divided people in the few hours that it has been available.

Master Chief and the Warthog are rendered almost identically to how they appear in the games, while Cortana is changed quite a bit and loses her famous blue hologram look. The famously stoic Master Chief also does a lot of talking in this short trailer.

Speaking of talking (heh) the dialogue here is rather bad, as is the CGI. We’re not quick to judge a series based on a short trailer but things do not look good here with around two months before release.

We’re on the fence for this one, but with Halo being so beloved we hope things turn out well.

Halo releases on the Paramount+ streaming service on 24th March.
