You can bullseye womp rats in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Publisher Warner Bros. Games has released a new gameplay overview for the upcoming title LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and you can finally do something that Luke Skywalker think he’s rather good at.

At the 3:58 mark in the video the narrator, explaining side missions, states that players can bullseye womp rats.

This is of course based on the famous quote from Luke Skywalker stating that he “used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They’re not much bigger than two meters.”

There is, of course, a Star Wars fan wiki article about womp rats for the so inclined and you can see them being shot at in the header image above.

What’s odd is that the player doesn’t seem to be using a T-16. The T-16 skyhopper is an “airspeeder” that LEGO actually made three sets of: one in 2020, one in 2015 and one in 2003.

What we see the player using in the trailer doesn’t seem to be any of these three airspeeders but a generic yellow turret gun.

That little distraction aside what does the rest of the trailer show us? We’d call it “old and shiny”.

We say this because the game sure does look graphically excellent, but the actual gameplay looks far too familiar.

The narrator goes through a lot of lines explaining combo-based combat, counters, improved shooting controls, optional stealth, dogfights and more… but it seems far too familiar.

The last time we played a LEGO Star Wars game was way back in 2017 with The Force Awakens. Despite all this time between the two games what we see in the trailer just doesn’t appear to be a huge change.

We’d love to be proven wrong but it will still be a few months before we get our hands on this game. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is planned for release on 5th April for just about every platform: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
