Legends: Arceus update ‘will improve your overall gameplay experience’

Nintendo and Game Freak have pushed out an update to Pokémon Legends: Arceus that apparently “contains content that will improve your overall gameplay experience”.

Ver. 1.0.2 of the game, which the patch will update it to, contains the following changes:

  • “Fixed an issue where, while offline, the screen could freeze after trying to pick up a lost satchel by throwing out a ball that contains a Pokémon.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes made it difficult to catch Cherrim.
  • Fixed an issue where a certain event would not occur during a particular Mission, preventing the scenario from proceeding as intended.
  • Fixed an issue where players could obtain certain Pokémon twice instead of once only as intended, prohibiting the player from obtaining other certain Pokémon. The relevant Pokémon will appear for players who were unable to catch those certain Pokémon due to this issue.”

In our playthrough we didn’t encounter any of these issues, thankfully, but we do recall many early players experiencing difficulty trying to catch Cherrim.

You can look on places like Reddit to see many people struggling to get Cherrim and its pre-evolution Cherubi. Some made jokes that they are the real legendries of the game, and others asked if they were outright bugged. Given the fact that the game has been updated to make things easier, it looks like those in the latter category were right.

The rest of the fixes seem pretty standard but, unfortunately, not everything seems to be smooth sailing here.

On Twitter, in the replies to this update, some players are reporting other bugs which have not been squashed yet.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus released on 28th January, just under two weeks ago, so here’s hoping that more patches and fixes are in the pipeline to keep things running smoothly.
