PC and PlayStation unite again in new Fall Guys crossplay

Despite crossplay not being standard in the industry (unfortunately) and Sony’s awful reputation for it, crossplay has now launched across PC and PlayStation in Fall Guys.

Owners of the game on those platforms can, after updating the title, jump into cross-platform lobbies.

“Though you were previously able to form cross-platform lobbies in Custom Shows, this now means you can party-up and enjoy any of our applicable playlists in Fall Guys—from Squads, to Duos, to Main Show and beyond,” developer Mediatonic writes.

“As long as you and your friends have already linked your Epic Accounts to Fall Guys, you’ll be able to play together by using the ‘Invite Players’ functionality. Don’t worry if you, or others, haven’t linked accounts yet; there’ll be a prompt to do so upon launching the game.”

Epic Games bought Mediatonic back in March 2021 but thankfully, unlike Rocket League, Fall Guys is still available on Steam.

Back when the purchase was announced Epic Games promised no changes to gameplay which has remained true so far.

Owners and platforms aside the future of Fall Guys after this update, a new mode called Sweet Thieves is on the way along with a new mechanic that will be exclusive to this mode allowing players to walk instead of run to up the sneak factor.

What about Fall Guys on other platforms?

Fall Guys has been on PC and PlayStation for quite some time and those on Xbox and Nintendo Switch have been eagerly awaiting ports.

Along with the release of PC / PlayStation crossplay we have been given an update on these platforms, but no hard dates are out yet.

“We know that news regarding Fall Guys on Nintendo Switch™ and Xbox is highly anticipated. We’re finalising development, and though it isn’t within this update, it’s still coming! Until then, we’re super excited to enable this cross-platform functionality for our existing platforms as a first step,” the announcement reads.

So it seems it’s the same as before: we wait for more information.
