Samsung sets MWC 22 event for 27th February, but is anything new on the way?

The dust has barely settled on Samsung’s first Galaxy Unpacked event, where three new flagship phones were shown off, but the South Korean firmed has already confirmed when its next consumer electronics event is happening – 27th February for MWC 22.

Yes the company is returning to Barcelona, virtually of course, with the event scheduled to kick off on the evening of the 27th at 20:00 SAST.

When the pandemic first started impacting tech events in 2020, Mobile World Congress was the first causality, as Samsung chose to reveal its flagship hardware earlier in the year rather than the eve of MWC as it has done in the past.

While it is pleasing to see that the brand plans to take part in MWC again, it is unclear what new devices, if any, will be showcased.

The accompanying teaser video for this announcement, embedded below, is said to hint at what devices will be showcased, but gauging from the imagery it looks like devices we have already seen. Namely the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Tab S8, last year’s foldables and the Galaxy Watch 4.

Hopefully there is a surprise in store, but we could see Samsung chose to focus on One UI 4 for the event, which is punting greater collaboration between Samsung devices, along with more integration with Google services and solutions.

If you are interested in tuning into Samsung’s Galaxy MWC 22 event, as we are, you can watch the live stream on the company’s YouTube channel here come 27th February.
