We often lament that smaller or lesser known phone brands don’t have the after sales support of the larger competition locally, but now TECNO Mobile is trying to do something about that by announcing a new repair service that can ordered for its devices either at-home or at the office.

The service aims to offer a bit more convenience to TECNO smartphone owners’ lives, but its launch does have one caveat currently – it is limited to selected regions in the Western Cape for now.

The reason for this is rather simple, with TECNO partnering with Cape Town-based repair service provider on this new solution.

“TECNO has partnered with Smartphone ER, an accredited mobile device service centre based in Cape Town, which provides a unique service offering by bringing its repair centre to customers,” a press release sent to Hypertext confirms.

“Through this service, customers can have the convenience of same-day repairs completed by the Smartphone ER mobile repair unit by simply going onto their online booking platform on the website. This service includes both warranty and out of warrant repairs,” it adds.

If you are not in the Western Cape, TECNO says repairs will still be facilitated by taking your faulty device to the store it was purchased from, with all warranty queries also handled via this channel. 

While there is no mention of expanding this offering to other parts of South Africa, hopefully TECNO can find some more accredited repair partners in the coming months.
